in 2373, son of Starfleet officer Miles O'Brien and Keiko
O'Brien and younger brother to Molly
O'Brien. Prior to Kirayoshi's birth, Keiko was seriously injured in an accident aboard a runabout. The child survived because of a daring surgical procedure in which Dr. Julian Bashir removed the fetal Kirayoshi from his mother's womb and inplanted him into the body of Kira Nerys. Kira carried the fetus for the remaining five months of pregnancy, after which he was delivered in a traditional Bajoran birthing ceremony. |
